April Tour: Day 8

Another fairly early and cold start to the day. 7am, but we got to see a beautiful sunrise...and scrape thick frost off the window! We drove to Champaign, IL for our next show. It was a good 5 hours, but quite a nice drive. We had an interview on the local public radio station and it went really well. We had an interview there last year around this time, so it was nice to be back again to the beautiful station. We met Dean, our presenter for the show that evening at the station and he took us out for lunch to the local pub. We then headed back to his house, where we were going to be staying that night. Because I had driven most of the way, I was pretty tired, and after a bit of computer work, I took a nap. After a few hours, we all reconvened and headed to the gig for our sound check with a quick stop to pick up some dinner on the way. As they were filiming the show, we had a good sound & video check and then got ready for the show. There were a lot of great things happening in town that night, and since it was a Tuesday, we weren't sure what the turnout would be, but we had a good crowd, and they were really fun and enthusiastic! The venue is super funky and they had fixed it up a bit since the last time we were there (last year), but it's such a fun room to play and we had a great time. After the show, we headed back to the 2 different places we were staying and hit the hay for a good nights rest.
